A Disavow File Generator is an online tool that helps you create a disavow .txt file for Google Search Console.

This file lists the domains or URLs you want Google to ignore when it reviews backlinks to your website. It’s useful when you find spammy or suspicious links that you didn’t build and can’t remove.

With a generator, you don’t need to worry about formatting. You paste your list, choose the right option, and download a clean file that’s ready to upload.

Backlinks can help or hurt. Most links are fine. But some links are low-quality, automated, or part of spam networks.

A disavow file is a way to say:

“Please don’t count these links when you assess my site.”

It does not delete links from the internet. It only gives Google guidance on how to treat them.

A disavow file is best used when the problem is clear.

Use it when:

  • You see a strong pattern of spam backlinks
  • The links come from fake directories, link farms, or scraped sites
  • You tried to remove them, but you can’t get them taken down

Avoid it when:

  • You’re guessing which links are “bad.”
  • The links look normal and relevant
  • You want to disavow everything “just in case.”

Important: If you disavow good links by mistake, it can reduce trust and rankings. Keep your list tight and focused.

Use this when an entire site looks spammy, and you want to ignore all links from that domain.

Format:

domain:example.com

This is often the safer choice because spam usually comes from whole domains, not one page.

Use this when you only want to ignore one specific page.

Format:

https://example.com/spam-page.html

Use URL mode when a domain is mostly fine, but one page is clearly low-quality.

To keep your file clean and accepted, follow these simple rules:

  • Put one item per line
  • Use domain: for domains
  • Use full http:// or https:// URLs for page-level entries
  • You may add notes using # at the start of a line
  • Save it as a plain text .txt file

1. Collect the links you want to ignore (domains or URLs).

2. Paste them into the input box one per line.

3. Select:

  • Domain (for full websites)
  • URL (for specific pages): Generate the file.

4. Copy or download the .txt output.

5. That’s it. Your file is ready for upload.

  1. Open Google Search Console
  2. Choose your website property
  3. Open the Disavow Links area (Google provides it as a separate tool)
  4. Upload your .txt file

Tip: Keep a backup copy of your latest disavow file. If you update it later, you’ll want your most recent version.

  • Start small. Disavow only what you’re confident is harmful.
  • Prefer Domain mode for clear spam sites.
  • Remove duplicates and blank lines before generating.
  • Use comments (#) to track updates and dates.
  • Don’t rush. A careful list is better than a long one.
