What is TDEE?

TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is the total number of calories you burn per day, including all physical activity.

What is BMR?

BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the number of calories your body burns at complete rest to maintain vital functions.

How to Use Results

  • Eat below TDEE to lose weight
  • Eat at TDEE to maintain weight
  • Eat above TDEE to gain weight
  • Adjust slowly (250-500 cal) for best results

Formula used

This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation, which is considered the most accurate formula for calculating BMR.

Your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is an estimate of how many calories you burn in a full day, including your normal activity and exercise. To calculate it, we first find your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)—the calories your body uses to keep you alive at rest. Then we multiply that number by an activity level factor to reflect how active your day is.

Even if you sit most of the time, your body still burns calories through basic movement and daily tasks. That’s why a “sedentary” setting still increases your BMR. Our TDEE calculator uses trusted formulas and shows the results in a clear, practical format—so you can understand your daily needs and set a realistic calorie goal.

TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure. It’s the total number of calories your body uses in a day—from breathing and digestion to walking, working, and exercising.

Because your routine, sleep, stress, and movement can change, TDEE can vary from day to day and is hard to measure exactly. That’s why most people estimate it using three key factors:

  • BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate): calories your body burns at rest
  • Activity level: calories used through daily movement and exercise
  • Thermic effect of food (TEF): calories burned while digesting and processing meals

A good TDEE estimate gives you a clear starting point for planning calories for maintenance, fat loss, or muscle gain.
