What Is a Text Line Sorter?
A text line sorter is an online tool that lets you quickly reorder lines of text in different ways. You can sort lines alphabetically, numerically, by length, or by complexity with just a few clicks.
With this line sorter, you can:
- Sort alphabetically – Lines are arranged in ASCII order:
- Digits 0–9 first, then A–Z, then a–z.
- If you don’t want uppercase and lowercase treated separately, turn off the “Case Sensitive Sort” option to sort them together.
- Sort by numbers – ideal for lists that mix text and numbers.
- The tool looks at the numeric values and sorts them from smallest to largest (or reverse, if you choose descending order).
- Sort by length – Rearrange lines from the shortest to the longest, or the other way around. It is useful for analyzing or formatting text.
- Sort by complexity – The tool measures each line’s Shannon entropy (how varied its characters are).
